Desireé is fantastic! She adores our Beagle, Oscar and even Oscar’s ‘cousin’, the Golden Cocker Spaniel, Colby. Oscar gets very excited when Desireé takes him on long walks. She shows our doggies so much love and attention in making sure they have their water and giving them pats and cuddles. Desireé is the pet carer I would gladly recommend to anyone who needs their pets taken care of in their own environment. She loves all animals, from cats and dogs to fish and reptiles. June 2018.

What Happens During a Complimentary Visit?

During this consultation, I gather all the information relevant to your dog’s care during walks. Each dog-walking plan is tailored and customised to your furry friend’s individual needs.

You can tell me about any training they have had, so that I can replicate this during our outings. I will use the same voice commands that you use for your dog, so that they benefit from the consistency in use. You can also let me know about your animal’s particular habits or quirks, so we can ensure I give them the best possible care when they are with me.

We can also look at particular walking goals you may have for your pooch, like managing their weight, increasing fitness, or reducing their anxiety.

Individual Care

Your dog’s welfare is my main concern. It’s for this reason that I only walk dogs from one home at a time, so they get my undivided attention.

Do you have more than one dog? I am happy to walk them together, but this will depend on their breed, temperament and sociability. We would discuss these points during your complimentary visit, so that we can agree on a plan of action that suits you and your pets.

When the walk is over and they are safely back in your home, I will fill their water bowls so they can stay hydrated. And there will be heaps of pats, cuddles and love as well.

If you live in Dural or the surrounding suburbs in the Hills District Sydney, call Desireé now on 0406 863 751, to discuss your specific dog-walking needs.

What Are the Benefits of Regular Walking for Dogs?

Regular exercise is an important component of your dog’s health and wellbeing. Just like their human counterparts, obesity is on the increase in our canine population. Dogs that are overweight are more likely to suffer from medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance (diabetes), liver disease and osteoarthritis.

For most dogs, a daily walk is enough, but active dogs, and certain breeds, might need more exercise. This is something we can discuss when we meet, and determine how vigorous and how long your dog’s walk should be. Your dog’s current fitness level and age will be factored in along with the outcomes you are hoping to achieve.

As well as managing weight and health, dog walking has other benefits for your pet. They are stimulated by all the different smells and sights in your neighbourhood and, along with human contact, this makes them happy. Utilising their energy for walking also helps to reduce any anxiety they may experience. Plus, of course, tiring them out will reduce boredom and any associated negative or destructive behaviour at home.

A good long walk that burns off excess energy is a win-win outcome for you and your dog. Everyone will be happier when your fur child sleeps well and behaves better. Less barking or whining for attention, or jumping up at everyone as soon as they move.

Call Desireé now to arrange your dog walking in Dural and the surrounding suburbs in The Hills District Sydney to keep your pet fit and healthy. The number is 0406 863 751.
